Through this student-athlete program, we help hard-to-reach students overcome serious challenges and achieve personal success, giving them a strong foundation for their future.
We assist Indigenous Students by using sports as a motivational tool to promote school attendance, increase classroom engagement, and encourage healthy habits for life.
With Indigenous youth suicide rates 2.5 times higher than the national average, our key objective is suicide prevention. We believe with caring guidance and active participation in sports, Indigenous students have a better chance for success, and more opportunities for growth and achievement.
“People need to know, so God’s people can pray. Not just ‘help them more’ prayers, but [a] spiritual warfare type of praying so that we can see the stronghold of suicide broken and true hope breakthrough.”
A chronic ailment among
Native Youth throughout the United States.
According to the Aspen Institute,

Athletes for Life is comprised of former Coaches and Players whose combined experiences confirm that football was instrumental to their individual successes.
The Founders and Directors of Athletes for Life know, from personal experience, the vital impact of youth sports participation. Specifically, football can provide the experience of establishing a shared vision, working as a high-performing team toward a common goal, and the tools to transition to adulthood.
Despite desolation and dire conditions,
hope is emerging on the reservation in the form of an annual football camp organized to help
Pine Ridge High School.
Since 2017, Former Utah football players
Hank Mondaca (1982-1985)
Dave Cullity (1985-1986)
and Jeff Reyes (1980-1983)
have worked tirelessly to gain the trust of the youth on the reservation through their non-profit organization.
People of the proud Oglala Sioux tribe describe living conditions in the poorest County in the United States.
Everyday battles with life on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
Youth sports, like football, can provide the incredible communal experience of a team working toward a common goal, as well as develop the life skills necessary for success in work and life.
Former University of Utah players come together to help these youth learn, grow, and develop tools necessary for success.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and fund our mission. Thank you in advance!
